Universities in Spain are inexpensive compared to the US. I don't know about Argentina. But US universities have a bit of a racket set up. If you want your courses for studying abroad to count toward your GPA and to receive full credit for them toward your major, you have to pay your university. The way most study abroad programs work is that you pay your usual tuition and fees to your college, then you study abroad with others from your college in a foreign country, taking courses at a foreign university, but you usually don't pay the foreign university anything. Your costs are your books, supplies, room and board, and travel. You can apply directly to a foreign university not through a study abroad program, but you are less likely to be accepted and you run the risk of not having your classes count. If your school has a study abroad office, and most larger universities do, then I'd recommend going to talk to them. Most schools send students their junior year but you have to take a test and qualify during your sophomore year.
