the break usually lasts all through december until the end of february.. at least for high school students, as for the uni I wouldn't know what to tell you.. and "young scenes", I would reccomend going to a dance club, there are a bunch of them in Recoleta (in northern Buenos Aires), and there are also restaurants, a cinema, etc. etc. and the night life never ends in there until the early morning. I would just go to all that area (Barrio norte, recoleta) because it's also the safest to walk around at night, specially the street Santa Fe, there's always a lot of circulation and stuff, and honestly, it's also the most tourist friendly as well...

maybe like 1-2 thousand dollars. you should call a travel agency in your area. like say triple AAA. they give good discounts.

Depends on which agency your going with. A lot of people do EF. With EF aside(repeat, EF aside) probably about 2000-4000 U.S dollars. 1 US dollar is about 3.15 in the Argentina Pesos. You didn't mention how long you were staying so this amount is based on a 2-3 week trip. That is with giving yourself about 50 for lunch, dinner(breakfast is included at most hotels) and another 50 for souvenirs, tours, museums, transport, and nightlife. Argentina is actually one of the most expensive places to travel in South America, keep in mind, it is considered the Europe of the south. Hotels are not cheap either, unless you plan on staying in a hostel, which is not the best thing, seeing as how most hostels in south america have common rooms, your sharing with total strangers so your belongings could be easily stolen while your away, and not by the people your rooming with either. Be weary, while the people are very warm, high spirited, and friendly(never been to argentina but every argentinian i've ever met were extremely nice) the country still has its sour spots. You also didn't say if you were staying in the city or not, the most expensive place, but if you plan on moving around the entire country than it should be more than enough.

I'm giving a 40 minute presentation on Argentina for elementary students, and I need help with some ideas to occupy that time...we will serve Dulce de Leche and do the tango, as well as teach Spanish letters and numbers, but are there any good folk tales or activities I could incorporate into the presentation? Thanks!

Are there any unexpected expenses I will incurr on a trip to Argentina?

Are there any unexpected expenses I will incurr on a trip to Argentina?
I am planning a trip to Argentina but I'm a student & on a very tight budget. I know there's an exit tax of $18 but are there any other airport taxes or anything? Also I was wondering approximately how much alcohol costs there. Any other information about Buenos Aires would be great also. Especially if anybody knows of any other activities that would be fun w/in the city because i'm going with my boyfriend & he gets bored easily.

Some costs that sneak up on you on ANY vacation: souviners food (people tend to eat more extravagantly on vacation) Admittance to attractions Stuff you charge to your room alcohol forgotten toiletries (depending on how long you've been there) Food and souviners usually account for most of the extra costs.

First the exit tax is included in your airfare. Second, if you are on tight budget....forget about alcohol. Drink water, that wiull save you money. Food and souvenir, museum or others are not free anywhere. If you are really on a tight budget...you should not go to a 14 hrs ride in a tube. All expenses beside airfare and lodging and food are unexpected.

They have many extra charges. So put so cash aside. Plus the US dollar is so down.

Hello, great for you to come to argentina. First of all, you should stay quiet because everyone can get drunk in here, from the richest to the poorest. For example. In certain bars wich are not around touristic area a bottle of beer (1 litre) will cost about 2 dollars, in other parts, 5, its all about location. As activities that can be done in here you have a lot.. Fun parks. Parque de la costa is the biggest park in latin america. Buenos aires you have a lot of concerts of everymusic you would like to hear. They are about 6 dollars a ticket. You have a lot of places to walk around, wich is the best way to know this city also. Dont know what else yoiu would like to know but i hope this helps and enjoy your trip.

Buenos Aires is a wonderful city and very cheap right now (at least compared to the USD and the Euro). First of all, as you mentioned there is an $18 exit tax to leave the country--so on your flight home, you'll have to pay $18 at the airport to get onto your plane. Other than that, Buenos Aires has a lot to offer and it's CHEAP. Unfortunately Argentina's currency was devalued in 2001, so since then everything has dropped enormously in prices. I was in BA in August and the average beer at a restaurant was $1 US... some places were cheaper. The average meal at a nice restaurant was less than $10 US. So to answer your question, Argentina is one of the best deals in the world right now for American travelers. To put it in perspective, Buenos Aires in almost as large as New York City.... so you'll find tons of stuff to do there!
