Will being a AFS Argentina foreign exchange(Summer community service) student, help me get into med school?
I am a senior at high school planning on traveling aboard to Argentina for 2 months. I am planning on participating in community service where can do one of the following: - Volunteer in orphanage -Help teach soccer to children with disability -work on environmental projects restoring parks. Which activity would be best for medical school? Do you that med school would like the fact that I went aboard to Argentina or not really since I did it during senior year at high school?

It is better to wait until college when you actually get credit and there are international study offices that will help you. Also, it's cheaper and you get your money's worth. None of these AFS deals will work - better to work in a medical clinic for an exchange and colleges have those. For high school, volunteer locally in a free medical clinic or the hospital. You didn't say if you live in a small town or city. Check out the Committee for Safety of Foreign Exchange Students too. Lots of good info.

I am very interested in attending school in Buenos Aires, Argentina...?
I currently live in the US (Los Angeles, California). I would like to know how to begin the process. Who to contact? What documents/requirements I need? What university are open to foreign students? Cost? How long is the process? Any comments or suggestions are of great help. I am fluent in Spanish. Any information is helpful. Thanks/Gracias!

Well it really depends, do you only want to study for a year or the whole career? If is only for one year you are ok. There is a bunch of schools that offer exchange students programs. For the whole carrer its a whole different deal. Lets me know which one you are interested in and I will explain you in detail.

Places to travel to in South America on a low budget?
Places to travel to in South America on a low budget?
I want to go to South America and use my Spanish after I graduate university, but I don't know which country to go to. I would want to go to Buenos Aires although I hear Argentina is expensive, as is Chile. Basically I want to spend a month in a country with good sights, food, women. I'm not looking for luxury treatment though, I am but a humble student!

Hi Melody Nocturna. I am from Argentina. Like you know Argentina is very special because it has different landscapes. The north, east, west and south ...all of them are different. Buenos Aires is a multicultural city. Music, people, food, arts, sports...all in it... DonĂ‚´t worry for the money....Buenos Aires can help you. :D
2 :
Medellin is a great option as well in terms of comfotable living, great weather and nice people
3 :
Take a look at Central America. If you are in the US, it is less expensive to get here and offers everything on your list, plus. Panama, Costa Rica, and Belize are a bit expensive, but you can travel the other countries on a pittance.
4 :
Ecuador is the best place to live and travel in South America. I have 20 years traveling South America. Cuenca Ecuador is the best city in my opinion in Ecuador. There is a lot of into on the site: www.live-in-ecuador.com

Well, when you compare South America to popular destinations in Europe, all the countries are relatively expensive. It also depends on what you're interested in. South America is a large continent with a variety of natural regions, cultural aspects, and of course, history. I personally would cross out Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana -- these are fascinating countries, but I wouldn't recommend them for first-timers of South America. Venezuela has a great culture, but a leader that simply makes it hard for his country to grow. The other three just don't have a lot of tourist infrastructure (they're best for the seasoned traveler). COLOMBIA is a fascinating country. The news often focuses on the drug-related issues, but that's more of the South, not of the main points of interest in the country. Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena, etc. are all worthy places with astonishing surrounding areas. One thing I like about Colombia is how it's almost as cheap as the Central American countries. ECUADOR offers a vibrant atmosphere at Otovalo Market, then you have Quito and other interesting cities as well. There is a notable Incan sight (Ingapirca) and other historical things that would make Ecuador enjoyable. PERU is most known for its Incan sites (like Machu Picchu), but you also have the Nazca Lines, Lima is a nice city, and of course you have the natural beauty of the country. CHILE is a very geographically diverse country, and thus culturally as well. It's a very developed country (most developed in Latin America, according to the Human Development Report). It might also be a little more expensive, but it depends on where you go. BOLIVIA is by far one of the cheapest countries in South America. It may be one of the poorest, but it is also very rich in natural and cultural diversity. A trip here is a must for those traveling in Latin America. PARAGUAY is one of the more ignored countries, but it also has natural and cultural beauty -- plus the least visited UNESCO World Heritage Site. ARGENTINA is a large country with so much to offer. The prices can indeed get a little higher, but if you choose a basic place to stay, your money can still last. URUGUAY, often called the Switzerland of South America (for its stability). A small country with so much in it. There are beaches, colonial towns, and much more. BRAZIL is pretty much the most popular South American country. There are several beaches, cities, and of course there's a lot of natural beauty. I personally would narrow it down to Colombia and Bolivia. They're very inexpensive, and are not often looked at by tourists. However, any South American country can be done on a budget.

Bolivia. It is the poorest country in South America and the cheapest I would say. Food is very cheap and really good! Transport is really really cheap. Bolivia is beautiful, just google for pictures. You can live with little money. For the best weather go to Cochabamba. Santa Cruz or Beni are well known for beautiful women, too.

Iam a Brazil fan but after Argentina's performance 2oday iam not sure that Brazil will trash Argentina even If Brazil won it will be something like 1-0 or 2-1 but they r not gonna trash it with this young unexperienced team and believe me if Brazil played like thier first game against Mexico or that game against Ecuador iam afraid that Brazil will be the one to be trashed donot get me wrong iam a brasilian fan but iam dealing with facts right now Brazil needs to improve their performance to beat an experienced team like Argentina with players Like Riquelme,Tevez,Messi, Mascherano,...

i think mexico will beat uraguay mexico the real winner of this cup brazil and arg are only money makers because of the reputation they have ..more ticket sales mo money! this sport is like boxing now rigged!

Mexico trashed Brazil. Argentina trashed Mexico. Just follow the logic.

I don't know man, Brazil has not been consistent in any game they have played, while Argentina has been very consistent in their games. I would like it if Brazil won, but the way they are playing I'm doubting it. I think it's gonna be like 2-0 or 3-1 win for Argentina.
11 :
BRASIL WIN TOTALLY WIN!!!!! and for the girl who saying that Brasil isnt a latin country it actually is cause the five romance languages that originated from latine once it died were PORTUGUESS,french, spanish, itallian, and romanian..so yes we are latin..just so u might know...

i go for argentina but i HATE it when they get cocky

okk so let me tell you this you are only Spanish if you're from Spain. and Brazil is a latin american group because obviously Brazil is located in South America. they just speak a diffrent language that doesn't mean they're not latinos. That's like saying people in Spain are not European only because they speak spanish.. And in case you didn't know Argentina has the best and most prestigious soccer in the world.
14 :
Did you Mexico beat brasil 2-0? and argentina beat mexico 3-0. I mean... cmon please. just use some common sense. It's not rocket sience. Go Argentina!!!
15 :
Upsets happen. Brasil will go against with basically 2-3rd teamers. Doesnt say much for Argentina if they upset them. Says a lot for the talent pool in Brasil. Anyway...anyone can lose their first games as they are trying to gel.

this is a classic match and in a classic you have to set aside anything that happened in the past because anything really can happen in these matches. however, eventhough i support brasil i hate to admit the fact that i believe argentina will win on sunday. but i still have my fingers crossed.
21 :
Argentina will win since they are using their main players, not like Brazil; but even if Brazil had decided to bring to this cup their main players, Argentina would still be the winner.

26 :
ARGENTiNA ALL THE WAY!! 3-1
27 :
Now Daniel Son, no need to say Brasil will trash Argentina, it just will not happen. Argentina has been playing the best football in this copa america. Scored 16 and has only given up 3. The people that are saying Brazil are going to win, they are just fooling them selves. 3-0, two goals by Tevez and one for Riquelme. No Gilberto Silva, that will leave some openings for Argentina. Zanetti, Ayala, Masche,Heinze,Milito are all in the back, so it will be a 3-0 win for Argentina.!
