How much money should I take on my trip to Argentina?

How much money should I take on my trip to Argentina?
Hey people! I'm a university student studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina from July 22 until November 12. I will be studying through my university, so housing, 2 meals a day, and laundry will all be paid for. I plan on traveling to surrounding areas as well (Brazil, Chile, etc) and staying only for a day or two. I'm obviously planning on doing some partying as well. How much money should a college student take to have a blast? I have about $700 saved up, and plan on taking about a total of $1500, plus about $200 cash just for "emergency money." Realistically thinking, do you think that this will be enough to live on for a couple of months without running out? Or should I plan on working a bunch this summer before I leave to get more? I know that this is a really broad question, but having an estimate would be really nice.

I personally would take a hell of a lot more. I do not know the prices in South America, while things are cheaper there... $1500 seems pretty small. I suppose how much money you take depends on your lifestyle if you're really into shopping and partying you'll need more. Keep in mind your bus and train tickets will add up and you have to keep in mind just how are you going to navigate the city? If you take taxis the cash will add up easily. You will also most likely eat at restaurants despite meals being provided for and the cash you spend going to museums and other tourist attractions adds up quick (especially considering they usually charge tourists more to go inside). I'm sure using a quick google search you can find out various prices for things in the city (museums, restaurants, buses to Chile, etc) will help you better figure out just how much money you'll need. And remember it's always better to have money left over after your trip is finished then it is to run out half way through. Also $200 is a absolutely terrible amount of emergency money. Emergency money means enough cash to bribe a cop, pay a hospital bill, and take a plane back home; you're better off just take a credit card with you (remember to remind the company where you are!) and only using it if you have to.

All the following are based on my experience and knowledge in Buenos Aires, where i live: Safety: Buenos Aires is a big city, with many different places. There are places more dangerous than others, but if you are careful nothing will happen. Dont show any cellphone or money in the street. I've never been robed in my 18 years. People: Argentine people in general is very warm and friendly, you can ask anyone who has been here. I think this is a common fact in south america, and i dont think europeans are like us. And we are even better people with foreigners than with other argentines xD- Language: Well, latin american spanish is very different to spain spanish, and argentine spanish is different to latin american spanish :P, but the difference is 90% in the accent, the rest is almost the same. Price: Argentina is a cheap country to foreigners, this is one of the reasons that people of all around the world choose it. This is a huge difference with Spain and the rest of Europe. We are a giant food productor country, so the price of it is much cheaper than its in Spain. If you like meat, this is the perfect place for you :P Cleanliness: This may vary on the location you are, places where tourist usually go are clean and the most expensive neighborhoods too, it doesn't mean that the others are dirty, but there is a difference. I recommend you to see photos of Puerto Madero, Palermo, Recoleta and the 9 de Julio avenue.

I found a website with a lexicon. I did't do much searching for something to listen to but this seems pretty good. I'm from Alabama, so we have our own language. I read through this... It seems pretty "correct." Kind of funny, too. http://www.gumbopages.com/yatspeak.html

Just tell them a little about your country like the population, the economy, major businesses there, etc.
