Moving to Another Country, Should I Stay Near the Capital?

Moving to Another Country, Should I Stay Near the Capital?
I was considering moving to Argentina, would it be more beneficial to move to Buenos Aires to be close to the embassy, or would that not really have a big effect on my stay (2 yrs+, student)?

why would they allow you to stay... What do you offer

Being close to the embassy is not really that big of a deal. I've lived in Cordoba Argentina and needed to go to the embassy one time in five years. It's really more about what life style you would like. Think of Buenos Aires as NYC and Cordoba as Austin, TX. Where would you be happiest?

I pick Brazil bc, Brazil is a better team than Argentina & Brasil does not talk kaka about Mexico as much does Argentina does. 2.I'm an Judo & Jujustu martial artist student & I think karate & Tai Chi has nothing or anything against my studies and agaisnt Judo/Jujustu. 3.I think true Mex I Cans will pick Brazil over Argentina. i pick Argentina over Brazil, because Argentina is way better than Brazil, the match will be tough though, but i think Argentina will win the Copa America. and since I born and grew up in Mexico, i guess that makes me a true Mexican, and please get over it, they won the semis against Mexico, and that's it, it hurts so bad, but that's it, period.

If Mexico beat Brazil, how will mexico look if @rgetina loses to brazil. @rgentina has too many good players to lose the final

I really want to speak Spanish fluently but I don't know what it's like in Argentina. Do they make fun of you for trying to speak? Is it a nice environment for college students? Can I make friends easily in Buenos Aires?

I haven't been to Argentina, but when I was in college a few years ago I did a study-abroad in Ecuador. I had never left the country before and I was quite nervous before going. I can tell you some things that helped me prepare. My university had a great international studies office. They held meetings so that any of us who were going to the same place would have a chance to meet before going there, so we would at leasts know a few people. They also arranged for us to meet people who had come back from the same place we were going. They could give us some clues as to what to expect when we arrived. They also arranged for us to stay with a host family and gave us the contact information for that family so we could call them before we went down. I have now done a study abroad in Ecuador, returned a year later for a vacation to spend time with friends, spent a week in Guatemala on a service trip, spent a week in Puerto Rico on vacation and spent two weeks in El Salvador on a mission trip. Each different place I have been has shown me that when you show that you are trying to learn their language, everyone is very happy to help you. I never experienced anyone making fun of me, but it did annoy me when people would assume that I did not speak Spanish, so they would insist on speaking to me in English, even though I could speak Spanish better than they could speak English! If your housing is arranged through the university, be sure that you are happy with the arrangements. If you do not get along well with the family, ask for it to be changed. I disliked my host family, but I felt awkward asking to be moved, especially since my host mother was good friends with the program coordinator at the university, but I wish I had spoken up first thing. I would have had an even better experience than I had to begin with! Also, make sure that you spend time with the Argentine students! There were so many American's at my university that we fell into a habit of hanging out with each other and speaking English rather than spending time with the Ecuadorans and practicing Spanish. So, my advice would be: use the resources at your disposal -- at your school and once in country. Also, make the most of your trip. Try not to speak English much, including with other Americans. When classmates always see you speaking English, they will hesitate to speak to you in Spanish. Also -- travel, travel, travel. I barely spent any weekends in Quito because I was constantly out seeing other parts of the country. Buen viaje!

Rosa T. has provided you with excellent information, advise, and experience ! As international travelers, my son and I would suggest, also, there are some localities needing " professors" to teach CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH !!!! My son ( several years ago, ) went to the University of St. Petersburg, Russa, to acquire his major in music. He was asked to teach, 2 hours per day, 2 days per week, ( I.E. something like a professor) Conversational English. He accepted the challenge, and within 2 weeks, he had his own apartment and telephone !!!! At that time, apartments and telephones requests were placed onto a waiting list, amounting to about 5 years of waiting !!!! Just an Idea. There are many other opportunities around. Good Luck to each and every one of you!!!!! GO FOR THE GUSTO, THIS IS THE GREATEST TIME, IN YOUR LIVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Uncle Wil

Is it love or infactuation? Or an idle whim?

Is it love or infactuation? Or an idle whim?
Married 35 year old, free spirit. Been with the same guy for the last 10 years, we have a very erratic relationship, it is either really good, or really shitty.. No major in between. I love him yes, we have a lot of history and can have a lot of fun together, not so much recently. Years ago when I was teaching I met a student from Argentina 8 years youunger. We hit it off, had fun hung out etc strong attraction, major flirtation. One time before I was getitng married, we ended up kissing very intensley for a while, I pushed away, feeling such guilt to go further, knowing I loved my husband and respected him, so I stopped. He told me before the wedding see ya, distanced for a long while. I missed him, our talks, friendship, banter. We are chatting again about once a month, I have strong feelings when I get off the phone, but think this is silly it is just a fantasy, you can't be in love with two guys, but man I miss hm, I dream about him a lot, he asks me to visit etc.. I don't know what to do, as I feel the energy between us is undeniable..
