I would highly recommend that you place an ad on Craigslist/Buenos Aires. Here is the link: http://buenosaires.es.craigslist.org/ The page will be in Spanish. On the left side, click on "Envía un Anuncio" (Send an ad), then on the options list, click on "Se busca/Compro" (Wanted/want to buy). This option allows you to place an ad for free and yes, you can post it in English, explaining what it is you're looking for. (I suggest you always ask for references, including -but not limited to- other foreigners.) Just fill out the form; it will ask for a title, amount (you can simply put in $1 and discuss with parties later) and area (Buenos Aires or whatever area of town you'll be in.) Fill out the text body then hit Continue. It's pretty self-explanatory. Good luck. Edit: I overlooked the English option for this page. It's in the upper right-hand corner. Here's the link to that one: http://buenosaires.en.craigslist.org/

Talk about the people, the passion, their passion for soccer and politics. A country is not defined by its government, it's geography or even it's history. It is defined by it's people. Talk about San Martin, Evita Peron, Diego Maradona, and Carlos Gardel who was the godfather of the tango. Tell the story of Argentina through it's people.

I have a Chase ATM card, and I want to use it at ATMs here in Argentina. Which banks accept them?

I have a Chase ATM card, and I want to use it at ATMs here in Argentina. Which banks accept them?
I'm an American student, living in Argentina for about 6 months while I fulfill my study abroad credit for my university. I have money in my account, and I have credit cards but I don't want to use them here. I keep them in my room, locked up for safekeeping, haha. So I use my ATM card to withdraw cash. Up until recently my card worked fine at Banco Ciudad, (yeah, they charged me, but it's not terrible) but today it wasn't working. Is it just because it's a national holiday? I'm very confused as to what other banks I could use, or how to withdraw money from them, because my Spanish isn't perfect. I can understand, I just have difficulty speaking at times. If anyone could give me some sort of advice, that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

Banco Ciudad is a good option. And may-be both the holi-day and week-end complicated your cash withdrawal. But just look at the back of your debit card and check which logo you have. http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/global/ResultsDisplayAction.do?uid=X1791096-1281999242-ac130104

Ask ten people and you will get 10 different countries...... Do the research yourself and choose one or two that are close.... If you are a college student that shouldn't be too hard. Cheap is relative...it's how much you want to do and spend.
2 :
add to those countries you chose ,Egypt, Saudi, Dubi , Turkey, China it is really good thing to visit other countries and see the differences between you and others good luck in your travels ...
3 :
i highly recommend traveling to europe, even though south america is definitely cheaper. it's an easier cultural adjustment and virtually everyone speaks english. i loved germany, munich is one of my favorite cities. you should check out efcollegebreak.com they have ridiculously cheap summer tours for college students--and they travel basically all around the world. the tours are also great because it's so many destinations on one tour so you don't necessarily have to pick just one country. you can also use my EF College Break Campus Manager Code, TRILI9452 and get an extra $50 off any trip...it's pretty sweet.

What's the best foreign exchange student program?

What's the best foreign exchange student program?
I've been looking up foreign exchange programs online, but what program would you reccomend? I'd like to go to greece, italy, or argentina what do you think of this site? http://www.asse.com/United_States/high_school.htm

1 :
Well, the site you gave doesn't offer programs for ANY of those three countries you listed! So that site's just not going to work. You should make an appointment with your guidance counselor at school and ask what programs they recommend.
2 :
AFS. Its the largest student exchange program in the world and has all he countries available that you listed.
3 :
In my opinion this is the best program abroad. Spain is a wonderful choice and the program www.beautifulspain.com, one of the best if not the best of the programs offered abroad world wide. Location is a safe and most amazingly beautiful beach resort in Northern Spain. Homestay Spain is the most preferred student exchange program in Spain, and is the best lifestyle immersion experience available to those willing to learn Spanish culture and lifestyle. Santander, the capital city of Cantabria located on a beautiful bay and flanked by numerous beaches, is home to this exciting program. Santander is known for its cultural refinement, and an atmosphere typical of old Spain. Inhabitants spend hardly any time at home preferring instead to enjoy the beautiful weather and temperate climate of the region. Life is lived “on the street”: strolling along the pier; spending the whole day at “El Puntal”, a sand island you may reach by public boat; going for a coffee at one of the many “al fresco” terraces; or spending the entire day at the beach with friends and family. These pastimes reflect the relaxed Spanish way of living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Host families are extremely well screened and very loving. This program gets returnees year after year, so great it is. Cost is really reasonable considering everything included (as long as you sign up with this program through their web site as there are organizations that sell the same program for much more so high quality it is). This program is considered the most complete exposure to a foreign country because as they say it is true that it combines CLASSES (art, debate, street talk, folklore, among others) with FUN and EXCITING ACTIVITIES such as Latin Dance Classes, Bullfight, Boat Excursion, etc…, FULL DAY OUTINGS to places of historical and cultural interest such as prehistoric Altamira Caves, Guggenheim Museum, Roman Ruins, "Capricho de Gaudi", Roman Route Hiking adventure, etc... are also ALL INCLUDED IN THE PRICE while living with a local, loving and carefully selected HOST FAMILY. I know this program allows you to choose from several host families (the type of things this program does, no other program would ever) in order for everyone to be happy. It offers you the possibility of enrolling with a friend with whom to share same host family home, or for you to stay alone at host family. Many host families count on children of your same age.

Talk to the Consulates office in your area, they will help you. I have family and friends in Brazil they are back & forth between the U.S. & Brazil all the time. We go to the Brazilian Consulate office and they help us with the necessary arrangements. I twon't be a surprize for her, but she can come and visit. Its the country of Columbia that we have the most restrictions on.
4 :
No way this can be a surprise for her. It is a long process that she will have to be involved in. She will need a Visa to enter the US. There are many types of Visas. Tourist Visa, Student Visa, Fiancee Visa, Spousal Visa, etc. Be aware that young single women from Argentina will almost NEVER be granted a tourist Visa. Homeland Security are no fools. They know once she gets here she aint gonna leave. If you are an elderly couple who own your own home in Argentina, no problem. Bring your tourist money and visit our wonderful country. But if you are a young single woman - sorry - America is closed for you. You could propose to her and bring her in on a Fiancee Visa, but that process takes about 10-12 months. You could marry her and bring her here on a Spousal Visa, double that delay. Other Visas have similar delays and other restrictions that may or may not apply to her. So you might as well change your plans and go see her for the surprise cause the chances of her coming here for a visit are about zilch. BTW - I am currently about half way through the wait for a fiancee visa for my Chinese G/F. I feel your pain man, but we are but pawns....

Why do Americans think of Che Guevara as a dark latino who helped his people? ?

Why do Americans think of Che Guevara as a dark latino who helped his people? ?
He was a good man who did help the people of Latin America but he was not a poor dark indian latino. He was an upper middle class WHITE medical student from Argentina. He was like Lawrence of Arabia for the Latinos. Yet, why do Americans think of Che as a dark Latino who came from the barrio? They never think of him as a white man even though he was of Spanish Basque and Irish decent.

Che was not a good man. He was a passionate man with misplaced ideals and a twisted sense of right and wrong. He was a ruthless killer. Still, The Motorcycle Diaries was a pretty good movie.

Because americans are ignorant and they think they are the only white people on earth. Anyways argentinians are of mapuche descendance too.

Sweden, its absolutely amazing there and Swedish is a beautiful language.

I agree that Sweden is a very beautiful place and that the language is very nice. It is surprisingly similar to English. With that said, I would choose Argentina for the food, culture, language, and weather.

Bring them something Australian! Something unique from YOUR culture. A lot of people make the mistake of bringing something for THEIR culture, but I think they see enough of that! Show them where you come from and how life is where you live. They're probably as interested in you as you are in them. Cheers!!

Alojargentina offers the warmth of an Argentine guest family to achieve an optimum cultural interchange. You may choose single or double rooms with private or shared bathroom. Argentina questions! ?

Argentina questions! ?
I'm going to be an exchange student in ARGENTINA next year! I am SO excited :) Anyways is there anything specific I should know? Are there any famous singers that are HUGE over there like Taylor Swift/Miley Cyrus/Etc... is here? What are some average prices for daily things? Are the people friendly? Do you know of any books that have a lot of info about argentina, but not like a travel guide? AND most importantly, name something interesting/fun about the country. Oh, and I'm in Spanish 3, hopefully that'll help me some :D Muchas gracias!

I can't answer all your questions, but I can help with a few ... The people I met while traveling through Patagonia were cautiously reserved at first contact, but became incredibly warm, friendly and helpful very quickly - all you need is eye contact. I had several instances where I ran into problems, and in each case complete strangers went out of their way to assist me. Prices seemed about the same as here in the states for many things, but there were some significant values - taxi service is so cheap as to be practically free by our standards, and restaurants were also relatively inexpensive. Bus travel is also very inexpensive, and quite comfortable - almost like flying. Tipping can be a little different, so talk to your host family about that. And speaking of restaurants, if you like beef they have the best in the world - lean, flavorful, and much healthier than most supermarket beef here. The variety is a little limited compared to what we eat here, as my friend Juan explained to me "We eat beef, pork, and pastry here!" The coffee however, is awful - enjoy the tea or matte instead. Throughout patagonia there are scattered many natural history museums - if you're interested in dinosaurs, it's a great place to be. There are also whales, penguins, seals and many other types of marine life on the Eastern coast. Finally, your language training will certainly help, but be aware that they speak a more European form of Spanish than the Latin American/Mexican variety that is generally taught in the schools here. Still, I'm sure you won't have any real problems. Have a great trip!

Which to choose for a week vaca: Budapest (Hungary), Buenos Aires (Argentina), or Singapore?

Which to choose for a week vaca: Budapest (Hungary), Buenos Aires (Argentina), or Singapore?
I am a college student and our school sponsors a one-week trip for all students. Each student gets to choose among those 3. Anyone who has been to any of these countries have any comments/ideas on where I should decide to go? I am looking to have fun and do site-seeing. Edit: I would love any details you can add for why you suggest a specific country. Thanks!

Singapore!
2 :
Honestly, for a college student, Buenos Aires is the way to go. There are a lot of young people there and it's "the other city that never sleeps." There are a lot of sites to see, my favorite being Recoleta Cemetery. A lot of the people are friendly, but you have to have to keep your guard up to avoid having your pockets picked (or in a very rare case, worse). But in general, if you stay in the nicer parts of the city (which is where everything is) you'll be ok. The biggest reason you should go, is because its cheap. If you go to Singapore, their dollar is 1.46 to the US dollar. I am not sure if Hungary uses the Euro or not, but if you go to Europe its usually more expensive for Americans. But Buenos Aires on the other hand is cheap, 1 dollar to 3.8 peso. Products are cheaper down there, clothes, leather goods, food and so on. So if you want to spend money (even though you school is sponsoring it, you'll be able to spend and do more in BA than the other two choices. One of the best things, is that if you get hungry in the middle of the night, you can have food delivered to almost anywhere that you are staying, its great! The biggest thing is just safety. There are places in the city that you just don't go. And never go out at night alone no matter where you are. If it is night time and you have to travel, be safe and take a taxi. The subway is very good during the day, but you may want to avoid it at night. And the buses are very cheap, but you don't want to be taking them alone and never ever at night.

Just look for standard books on modern algebra, topology, differential equations and tensors. For Modern Algebra, serch for a good author like Ian Herstein. for tensors search for author Wetherburn. for differential equations and topology search for J.F Simons. Tell me if you find proper books nyn_3@yahoo.com
3 :
Chemists use "Chemical Applications of Group Theory" by F.A. Cotton. Go to Amazon.com, search on group theory (link below), and then read the reviews for books that look interesting for physics.
4 :
You are going to run into some difficulties because mathematicians and physicists have rather different emphases and notations in this area. Most of the math books that cover Lie groups assume a lower level abstract algebra course (which covers finite groups). The best treatment for physicists I have found is 'Symmetries in Physics' by J. P. Elliot and P. G. Dawber. If you really want a mathematical treament, you should look into books on differential geometry first (to get a good definition of Lie group) and then check out a book on representation theory for Lie groups.

If you're in college, then there should be a international studies office. If not, then there are plenty of ways to find exchange programs throughout your state and city. This site looks legit, but I would go to citysearch through google for your city. http://www.afsusa.org/usa_en/link/5367?gclid=COXj9pG79JgCFRFMagodoUHI0Q I've studied abroad twice- both times my parents paid. I went through my high school and then my university. It's an experience that not only let's me experience another culture, but actually learn something that will apply to my life, such as courses, and help me to build tolerance and even learn about myself <--- good way to convince them to help.

Can an Australian take a working holiday in Argentina or Peru?

Can an Australian take a working holiday in Argentina or Peru?
I am a 23 year old student, and I'm considering taking 6 months or a year of out of the course im doing to work in South America. I have been to South America twice in my life already so I know what to expect in both countries. My Spanish is.... intermediate. Not a beginner at all, but I'm years away from mastering the language.

1 :
Technically, if you want to get a job in Peru or Argentina you need a work visa. You usually need to have some skill or qualification and need to have a formal job offer. Otherwise, you would be working illegally. Nevertheless, as in any other country in the world, you could work for cash if you find a job that pays under the table.
2 :
I'm from Argentina, and you don't need a visa to work there, you just need a "cuil" isn't too hard to get it, and don't worry about the language, because in Buenos Aires there are people from all over the World, you can speak in English and people will understand you.
3 :
Short answer: Yes. As Sergio already pointed out, even without a working visa you may be able to get a job. However some of the easy jobs are not really well paid. Probably one of the best (and easy) options for you would be to teach English but you would need an acceptable Spanish.

Inerested in studying abroad in Argentina or Spain?

Inerested in studying abroad in Argentina or Spain?
Hi, I am an American college student majoring in Spanish. I would like to study abroad in either Spain or Argentina, so how much would the tuition cost me if I applied directly do the school?
Studying Abroad - 3 Answers

1 :
hey! if you want to know the tuition fees, i suggest that you contact the school/universtiy you wanted to go to, research more info about it. and financial aid resource would help greatly in tuition fees(:
2 :
Universities in Spain are inexpensive compared to the US. I don't know about Argentina. But US universities have a bit of a racket set up. If you want your courses for studying abroad to count toward your GPA and to receive full credit for them toward your major, you have to pay your university. The way most study abroad programs work is that you pay your usual tuition and fees to your college, then you study abroad with others from your college in a foreign country, taking courses at a foreign university, but you usually don't pay the foreign university anything. Your costs are your books, supplies, room and board, and travel. You can apply directly to a foreign university not through a study abroad program, but you are less likely to be accepted and you run the risk of not having your classes count. If your school has a study abroad office, and most larger universities do, then I'd recommend going to talk to them. Most schools send students their junior year but you have to take a test and qualify during your sophomore year.

What is the common dress (attire) for females (age 20s) in Rosario, Argentina?
I am a U.S. female student studying abroad in Rosario, Argentina for three months. I will be there from Sept. to Dec. which is mostly their spring months I already do not dress provocatively... I am just curious to known the common fashion there for girls in their 20s. jeans? dresses?skirts?shoes? colors? etc. etc.

Argentinian women dress VERY provocative. If they wear jeans, they are VERY tight. If it's a dress, REALLY short. But going back to your question, jeans and a short sleeved T-shirt. You are going to have lots and lots of fun. Consider going to Buenos Aires, and the coast cities of Mar del Plata, Villa Gessell, and Pinamar in Buenos Aires (thong is the only way to go on the beaches). Also consider Cordoba and the Iguazu Falls. All these are close to Rosario and not expensive at all.

hi! my name is sabrina and i am from Argentina, i live near La Plata, it is a beautiful city, many people live there, but not as much as in Bs As i think you shoul come because people here are very friendly, i dont know why but we like people from other countries and cultures, you will be welcomed here the food is excellent, you have a lot to eat dulce de leche, asado, helado (ice cram) (they are delicious) empanadas etc i dont know how old you are, but here life is different from there, we go dancing at 2 am in the morning and we return home at 6 o 6.30 am (its the best part!!!) there are robers like in any other place in the world you should learn some spanish, but almost everybody knows english, :) i leave my adress, it is sabrig89@hotmail.com if you are interested, i can tell you more and practise my english and you your spanish

Argentina is a great place!!! For starter Buenos Aires is the Paris of the Americas (historical bldgs looks alike in Paris) it is a big industrialized city after all it holds the record having the widest ave/street in the world. It has a long pedestrian (Florida street) walkway full of shops, bars, restaurant & any sort of entertainment. This is the place where locals & students hang around passing time, of course its crowded with people. Like any big city you just have to be careful but nothing to worry much. In general Argentinian are very friendly people - I came in without friend & leave home back to U.S. with friends in Argentina, they are extremely nice & helpful as compared to the Chileans & Brazillian folks. Im going back there sometime soon to visit my friends. Hotels/apartment are cheap as well as the food, in contrary clothing & shoes are expensive. Argentina is humongous - going south is a nice get away to the glaciers (world renown Perito Moreno) & towards the last southernmost town of the world in Tierra del Fuego. Lastly the language is spanish.
4 :
Yes. The seasons are reversed so you can ski in Bariloche in July.
5 :
About crime, the formula is easy: The northern = The worse. Also, it is higher in those places where there are a lot of people. You should learn Spanish, but I'm pretty sure you'll find someone who speaks English pretty fast.Good luck ^^
6 :
La Plata is pretty safe, but especially for students. No one wants to mug a poor student with no money. It is full of American students at the university there, every exchange student I met in BA was actually studying in La Plata. If you watch your wallet and are careful out at night when drinking, absolutely nothing will happen. I don't feel any different there than I do in Boston, even if the crime rate is actually higher you certainly don't feel it.

You probably do not need a visa. Here's the info you need to look at... National IRAN (ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF) (IR) Transit ARGENTINA (AR) /Destination URUGUAY (UY) ALSO CHECK DESTINATION INFORMATION BELOW ARGENTINA (AR) Visa not required, if continuing by same or first connecting aircraft within 6 hours, holding tickets with confirmed reservations and all documents required for next destination. Passenger must consult transporting carrier if changing airport or other airline's flight. In such case, passenger must be escorted by airline's personnel. Leaving the airport is allowed, but only with authorization of Immigration authorities. Airline which brought passenger to Argentina will be held responsible during whole transit period of passenger. In case of transiting Argentina twice during a journey, see additional information: For details, click here -item 1. Can American children go to primary school in Argentina?
Hey there, I am going to be moving to Buenos Aires Argentina in the next year. I have a 7 year old child that I will be needing to put into Primary School. Are there any special requirements for this? I know that for myself, I will be going to University of Buenos Aires & can get a student visa for this. Does it work basically the same with children? How do I go about doing what needs to be done to make her eligible for school in BA? thanx!

Well as she is going with you he can have an extended tourist visa for the time you are there. There is no problem to put her in the school but since you are no telling if you are moving temporarily or permanent, neither if she can speak spanish it is difficult to tell you what is the best option. I pass for the same situation but on the other direction. My advice is to put her in a bilingual school, generally private but no too expensive ( more if you think to come back with her).
2 :
Hello, As long as you're all legally allowed to live in Buenos Aires you wont have any problems with this, you will need to apply for a visa for her and obviously if you're in the university you'll automatically be allowed a visa. Hope that helps... check out this link it has some extra information about Buenos Aires that will probably help you: http://www.bsas4u.com/insidertipstobsas.php Good luck!

Latin american people (including argentineans) ar really nice, talkative, outgoing and easy to talk to. People are really friendly and you should be really friendly too towards them. People smile at you or talk to you sometimes without knowing you and you can make friends easily. Foreigners say we are really warm and caring... And yeah we judge people individually and we don´t like people who think thy´re better than us (some americans have that sort of attitude) A friend from Netherlands came like a month ago a´he has had the time of his life, he says people are really friendly and he´s not used to it....

Studying in Argentina, What living option should I choose?

Studying in Argentina, What living option should I choose?
I'm studying in Argentina (Buenos Aires) for eight weeks. I can either live in a triple in a student residence hall, live with a family or rent a single apartment. I like privacy and having some solid alone time, but I am social as well, so which should I choose? I am worried about the lack of control over personal schedule and the possibility of a personality clash that comes with roommates or a homestay family, but I'm also worried that an independent apartment might be too isolated. Any advice?
Studying Abroad - 1 Answers

I had an apartment when I studied abroad (Czech Republic), and it was the best decision I ever made. If you're independent enough to hack it, it's a great decision. You'll have a ton of free time, you can cook for yourself, and you may even save some money. I'm kind of against the whole dorm thing. When I was studying abroad, the kids who decided to live in the dorms really didn't get a feel for the culture or gain as much independence as the kids who had apartments or lived with host families. They tended to stick with the other Americans, eat American foods, even go grocery shopping as a group. The more independence the better, I say. Oh, and I've heard good and bad experience with regards to host families. The biggest trend among my friends who stayed with host families had was that they expected more of an actual "family" feel. They said they just felt like a weird fixture in the family's life for a few months, but that the 3 square meals were nice.

Dont give up. What you may want to do is do a search for schools down there. You may even want to take a trip there for a couple of week to feel things out. If you know Spanish, which I recommend you should not have any problems with communicating there. Maybe go during the summer here since now it is winter there maybe you can find a cheap flight.

2 :
I haven't personally been an exchange student, but if you go to http://yfuusa.org/american-students/more-information/alumni-referral.php you can contact former YFU exchange students. You might also be able to find some more info on http://www.cultures-shocked.org/Joomla/forum/index.php . YFU (Youth For Understanding), AFS, and Rotary are frequently called "the big 3" when it comes to exchanges - long histories and good reputations, although a few others are making their way up that list. Please forgive my bias towards YFU - it's the one that I have direct experience with (I am a 5-time host mom and volunteer). I am gaining indirect experience by corresponding with former students. When I have asked exchange students why they chose YFU, I get the following answers: (1) YFU gave them more bang for their buck and/or (2) someone they knew and trusted recommended YFU. 95% of the fees collected by YFU go for direct program costs (airline tickets, support in hosting country, etc.). YFU has been around for almost 60 years and has learned how to make exchanges successful. If you choose another organization, please make sure that it is listed with the Council for Standards on International Educational Travel (csiet.org). They routinely audit programs for quality. While it is possible that a good organization is not listed with them, it is less likely and I would advise doing more research on anyone that is not listed with them. Below are some links you might like. Buena suerte!

Whoever decides to travel to Argentina, must know a little bit of something regarding this country. Usually, it's because of the "Tango" dance or Argentina's "Asado" (because they really do know how the hell to cook the meat and they do have the best meat). Argentina and other countries in South America, was funded by many immigrants from Spain and Italy right after the Second World War and the architecture is fascinating. There is also their past politic of Peron to notice but again, Argentina has also beautiful mountains!

How to convince parents to allow me to be exchange student?

How to convince parents to allow me to be exchange student?
I've been thinking about trying to become an exchange student my Junior year of high school for 1 year in either Argentina, Chile, or Ecuador. I would really like to do this, but I have no idea of how to go about asking my parents. I of course will get a job and fund raise like crazy to help pay for it. How should I go about talking to them about it?
Studying Abroad - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Be up-front about it. Do a little research to get a realistic idea of the cost and come up with a "business plan" to raise the funds. Doing this would not only help offset the cost, but also show your parents you are mature enough to handle the exchange.
2 :
show that you are responsible. Be prepared to explain why are responsible enough to handle something like that. Also, educate your parents on the place that you would like to go. Be detailed. I have no doubt that you will be able to persuade them as long as you can be ready to answer any questions they may ask.
3 :
Gather all the information you need. You should have all the information from the exchange group you're using. Supervisor names and numbers, etc. Parents will want to know that other children have survived this experience unharmed. They want to know there is reliable adult supervision at all times. Where are you going to live? - Be as specific as you can. The family's name and telephone number would be great. How long are you going to be gone? Self-explaintory. What if you hate it? What if the family you stay with is horrible? What if you get there and it's a complete nightmare? Have an exit plan ready for them to see. How much does it cost and what are the parental obligations? When you lay out all the info, ask if they have questions. Address them calmly and without tantruming. If they say no, ask why. Keep working on it.
4 :
Well first of all you need to get them believe that you can take care of yourself. Explain them that this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity, that it won't be the same doing it during college. And it'll make you gain more independence,
5 :
A friend of ours sent her daughter to Germany for her junior year. Mom herself did the same thing when she was a kid so that made it easier. You might want to find a family who has done this and you and your parents could talk to them.

the break usually lasts all through december until the end of february.. at least for high school students, as for the uni I wouldn't know what to tell you.. and "young scenes", I would reccomend going to a dance club, there are a bunch of them in Recoleta (in northern Buenos Aires), and there are also restaurants, a cinema, etc. etc. and the night life never ends in there until the early morning. I would just go to all that area (Barrio norte, recoleta) because it's also the safest to walk around at night, specially the street Santa Fe, there's always a lot of circulation and stuff, and honestly, it's also the most tourist friendly as well...

maybe like 1-2 thousand dollars. you should call a travel agency in your area. like say triple AAA. they give good discounts.
2 :
Depends on which agency your going with. A lot of people do EF. With EF aside(repeat, EF aside) probably about 2000-4000 U.S dollars. 1 US dollar is about 3.15 in the Argentina Pesos. You didn't mention how long you were staying so this amount is based on a 2-3 week trip. That is with giving yourself about 50 for lunch, dinner(breakfast is included at most hotels) and another 50 for souvenirs, tours, museums, transport, and nightlife. Argentina is actually one of the most expensive places to travel in South America, keep in mind, it is considered the Europe of the south. Hotels are not cheap either, unless you plan on staying in a hostel, which is not the best thing, seeing as how most hostels in south america have common rooms, your sharing with total strangers so your belongings could be easily stolen while your away, and not by the people your rooming with either. Be weary, while the people are very warm, high spirited, and friendly(never been to argentina but every argentinian i've ever met were extremely nice) the country still has its sour spots. You also didn't say if you were staying in the city or not, the most expensive place, but if you plan on moving around the entire country than it should be more than enough.

Are there any unexpected expenses I will incurr on a trip to Argentina?
I am planning a trip to Argentina but I'm a student & on a very tight budget. I know there's an exit tax of $18 but are there any other airport taxes or anything? Also I was wondering approximately how much alcohol costs there. Any other information about Buenos Aires would be great also. Especially if anybody knows of any other activities that would be fun w/in the city because i'm going with my boyfriend & he gets bored easily.

Some costs that sneak up on you on ANY vacation: souviners food (people tend to eat more extravagantly on vacation) Admittance to attractions Stuff you charge to your room alcohol forgotten toiletries (depending on how long you've been there) Food and souviners usually account for most of the extra costs.
2 :
First the exit tax is included in your airfare. Second, if you are on tight budget....forget about alcohol. Drink water, that wiull save you money. Food and souvenir, museum or others are not free anywhere. If you are really on a tight budget...you should not go to a 14 hrs ride in a tube. All expenses beside airfare and lodging and food are unexpected.
3 :
They have many extra charges. So put so cash aside. Plus the US dollar is so down.

Hello, great for you to come to argentina. First of all, you should stay quiet because everyone can get drunk in here, from the richest to the poorest. For example. In certain bars wich are not around touristic area a bottle of beer (1 litre) will cost about 2 dollars, in other parts, 5, its all about location. As activities that can be done in here you have a lot.. Fun parks. Parque de la costa is the biggest park in latin america. Buenos aires you have a lot of concerts of everymusic you would like to hear. They are about 6 dollars a ticket. You have a lot of places to walk around, wich is the best way to know this city also. Dont know what else yoiu would like to know but i hope this helps and enjoy your trip.
5 :
Buenos Aires is a wonderful city and very cheap right now (at least compared to the USD and the Euro). First of all, as you mentioned there is an $18 exit tax to leave the country--so on your flight home, you'll have to pay $18 at the airport to get onto your plane. Other than that, Buenos Aires has a lot to offer and it's CHEAP. Unfortunately Argentina's currency was devalued in 2001, so since then everything has dropped enormously in prices. I was in BA in August and the average beer at a restaurant was $1 US... some places were cheaper. The average meal at a nice restaurant was less than $10 US.
